How competition odds work
How are competition odds worked out?
Most UK prize competitions cap the number of tickets they will sell. Your odds per ticket are one in that maximum. A draw capped at 20,000 tickets gives each ticket a 1 in 20,000 chance. Buy 10 tickets and your chance is 10 in 20,000, or 1 in 2,000.
Are my odds better if a competition does not sell out?
Yes. The odds we show assume every ticket sells. If only half the tickets sell, each ticket has double the chance. Many sites show how many tickets have sold, so check that before the draw closes.
Which competitions have the best odds right now?
Of the 123 live draws we are tracking, the best odds are on Sundays £2,000 for £99 from Pristine Competitions at 1 in 35 per ticket. The list above updates as draws open and close.
Do competitions without a ticket cap have odds?
Not fixed ones. Sites that sell unlimited entries, such as some big house and car draws, cannot give exact odds because your chance depends on how many entries are sold. We only show a “1 in X” figure where a draw has a ticket cap.
Is there a free way to enter?
UK prize competitions must offer a free entry route, usually by post, to stay within gambling law. A free entry has exactly the same chance of winning as a paid ticket.
