Free entry routes for every major competition site

These are the free ways into each site’s draws, taken from the site’s own terms. A free entry has the same chance of winning as a paid ticket. Always check the site’s current terms before you post, as the address and rules can change.

VERIFY — a free entry route is a legal requirement for a paid prize competition in the UK. Confirm the exact process from the operator's current terms before publishing. One Trustpilot reviewer has reported postal entries not being issued, so keep proof of posting if you use it.

How free postal entry works

UK prize draws that sell tickets have to stay outside gambling law. They do that by asking a real skill question, by offering a free way to enter, or both. The free way is usually a postcard or letter with your details and the competition you want to enter.

Getting a postal entry right

Use one card or envelope per entry unless the terms say otherwise, write clearly, and include every detail the terms ask for, which is usually your name, address, phone number, email, date of birth and the competition name. Post it with enough time to arrive before the draw closes. Entries that arrive late or miss a detail are usually rejected.

Is it worth it?

On a draw with good odds, yes. A postal entry on a 5,000-ticket draw is a 1 in 5,000 chance for the cost of a stamp. Use our odds checker to find the draws where a single free entry has the best chance.

Questions people ask

Are free competitions in the UK legit?

The big UK prize competition sites all offer a free entry route, and a free entry has the same chance of winning as a paid ticket. Check that a site publishes its terms, its winners and a real company address before entering.

Does a free postal entry have the same odds as a paid ticket?

Yes. Free entries go into the same draw with the same chance per entry. The only difference is that you post your entry instead of paying for it.

How many free entries can I send?

It depends on the site. Most allow one free entry per envelope or postcard, and some cap the number of free entries per person. The limits are in each site’s terms.

What is the PrizeComparison free prize draw?

We run our own free draw every month. It costs nothing to enter, there is no purchase, and UK adults can enter once each on our Win page.
